I'm Productive Again

Marian House has helped me to become the woman I am today. The staff loved me until I learned how to love myself. With God’s help and that of the Marian House staff I have learned not only to set goals, but also to accomplish them. I am also learning to be patient with others and most of all, myself; I now understand that everything happens for a reason and a season.

This experience has taught me to remain honest no matter what the outcome or situation may be. Through Marian House I have learned to be a productive member of society which includes paying bills on time, paying off debts, practicing interviewing skills, cooking, cleaning and making necessary appointments for myself. Everything that I have learned I now pass on to my children. I have seen miracles happen in my life and today I understand that God works through people. God has truly worked through the staff at Marian House and I am very grateful.

Thank you,
Tammi S.

Recovering From Addiction

My Name is Kim and I am an addict!!!!!

I am also a resident of Marian House Shelter Plus Care Program. I have been a member of the Marian House family for over four years and I can't express enough gratitude. After leaving prison in July 2002, I went right back to what I understood - getting high. Then in December 2003, I entered Marian House and my understanding began to change. It was confusing at first, but I slowly began to trust the people who embraced and welcomed me. They loved me until I loved myself. Now with the strength and confidence I've received, I have been able to seek, secure and maintain steady employment; reunite with my family; and support my household. Through my experience with Marian House I have transformed from an insecure girl into a strong woman. I am a living testimony to the Marian House motto “moving women from dependence to independence”.

Together Again

As a resident of Marian House I have gained full and complete custody of my son, who I lost because of my addiction to drugs. The counselors at Marian House guided me in taking the necessary steps in my process. I completed parenting classes, they provided me with housing and I have a full time job. I have also maintained my sobriety for several years now. The Marian House staff has a genuine love and concern for the residents and I am so grateful to be a part of this family

Love, Warmth, Kindness, and Caring

Good Morning,
My name is Juanita Brown. I have been in the Marian House family since June 2005, which makes 3 years this June. When I came to Marian House I was an angry young woman with no structure, guidance, or plan. I came from Jessup Jail for Women straight to Marian House. Marian House has taught me structure, guidance, patience, and manageability. When I arrived at Marian House, feelings of love, warmth, kindness and caring overwhelmed me. The staff there is to die for. You will get all you need in Marian House to become a better woman. Marian House sent me to cooking school, taught me how to manage my money very well, as I grew during my stay at Marian House. I was reunited back into my kids lives, and they now live out of state with their grandmother. I have a long road ahead of me, but Marian House is always here to support me. I love Marian House and the staff for helping me to get my life back. I am very, very proud to say I come from Marian House.

Sincerely,

Juanita Brown

I Can Dream Again!

Marian House allowed me to dream again. Before I arrived there, I was confused and lost. Upon entering, I was surrounded with so much love and support. One of the things they asked me at Marian House was what were my goals and dreams? I became responsible, employable, and my self esteem began rising. I completed the program with plenty of gratitude. I always include Marian House and its staff in my prayers to continue to help women obtain their dreams. Like Dorothy always said, “There’s no place like home.”

From Dependence to Independence

The Marian House has helped me move from dependence to independence. The thing that helps me the most is self-confidence. They allowed me to learn about who I am, my strengths and weaknesses. There is nothing that I needed and they either helped me or sent me to the proper resources to receive the help that I needed. They have helped me to see the importance of my mental and physical health in reference to my recovery. I would have never thought that I would be where I am today. They go above and beyond to nurture the women in Marian House to become independent. I think of Marian House staff as TRUE BLESSINGS in my life. I am an independent woman and a productive member of society because of Marian House. Thank you Marian House for my Life and thank you God for allowing me to be a part of Marian House. The Staff is awesome! Thank you for who I am today and for loving me.

Sincerely,
Cynthia McGee

P.S. I wish every woman who has fallen could receive help and guidance from the staff at Marian House.
