Marian House is a leading organization in empowering women through the gift of time and second chances; however, we cannot do this important work without our community. Therefore, it is extremely important to us that we are transparent to our donors and always welcome our supporters to visit so that they are able to see how they are investing their treasure. We pride ourselves in that over 80% of the funds raised by Marian House goes directly to the care of our women and families every year. Marian House welcomes gifts made by check, money order,  credit card or Venmo. Please make your check or money order payable to Marian House and mail to: 949 Gorsuch Avenue, Office of Advancement, Baltimore, Maryland 21218. If you want to designate your gift to a particular program, please indicate that information in the memo portion of your check or money order. If you want to make a credit card donation, you can DONATE NOW via our web site or call our Advancement Office at 410.467.4246. Our Venmo account is Marian-House1982. Monthly Donor

By becoming a monthly donor through automatic deductions from your checking or credit card account, you create a valuable, dependable source of income that we greatly appreciate. Also, by making a monthly gift, both your paperwork and our administrative costs will be reduced. Monthly Donors receive a special quarterly report so that you can see the value of your commitment. When you participate, your gift will be transferred to Marian House each month from your checking account or charged to your credit card. A record of each gift will appear on your monthly bank or credit card statement. You may increase, decrease, or suspend your gift at any time. Tax Credits

Marian House is an approved nonprofit for Maryland’s Community Investment Tax Credits program. Businesses and individuals that donate can earn tax credits equal to 50% of the value of the monetary contribution. These tax credits are in addition to the deductions on both Federal and State taxes as a result of the charitable contribution. Individuals and businesses must use the tax credits against taxes owed for the year in which the contribution was made and may not be used retroactively for taxes from a prior year. Community of Compassion

The Community of Compassion is comprised of a select circle of donors whose significant and sustained support profoundly impacts Marian House. Stock Gifts

Marian House accepts gifts of securities with great appreciation. You should consult your financial advisor to gain an understanding for the potential financial and tax advantages of making such a donation. Please call our Advancement Office at 410.467.4246 to arrange a securities gift transfer.

Matching Gifts

Double or even triple your gift to Marian House by making a corporate matching gift. Many companies will match their employees’ charitable contributions. Contact your employer’s human resources office to see if your gift can be matched. If so, simply request a matching gift form from your employer and send the signed form to Marian House, 949 Gorsuch Avenue, Office of Advancement, Baltimore, MD 21218.

Celebration or Memorial Gifts

Making a gift that helps others is a wonderful way to celebrate a milestone or remember an important person in your life. Celebrating events such as graduations, weddings, promotions, retirements takes on a new meaning when you help to improve the lives of those who need support. Likewise, remembering those who have touched your life in a special way takes on greater meaning when your generosity helps those in need. Each gift is acknowledged by a card sent to the honored person or family of the deceased person in whose name the gift is being made. The notification does not include the amount of the gift. However, as a donor, you will receive a separate acknowledgement for your own records. To make a celebration or memorial gift, you may contact our Advancement Office at 410. 467.4246.

Workplace Giving

Does your employer have a workplace campaign? If so, you can designate Marian House to receive your payroll deduction! Marian House is a designee for the United Way, The United Way Workplace Campaign (formally the Combined Charity Campaign), the Maryland Charity Campaign and several other third party partners using our Tax ID 52-1243849.

Planned Giving Gifts

Planned giving is the name for any charitable gift requiring forethought and planning. Planned gifts can be as simple as making an outright bequest or as complex as creating a charitable trust in your will. Naming Marian House as a beneficiary in your estate is a special and lasting gift. Please call or have your personal representative call our Advancement Office at 410.467.4246 to discuss this option.

In-Kind Donations

Marian House’s transitional and permanent housing programs benefit from generous in-kind donations each year. These donations may include new bedding, kitchen items, appliances, furniture and other home goods. For a look at our full WISH LIST please visit HERE. For more information, please contact our Advancement Office at 410.467.4246. Marian House is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. All gifts are tax deductible and acknowledged in writing. Please note that due to capacity we are unable to take used clothing donations and only accept furniture donations on a very limited capacity. We are however happy to refer you to some of the partners we collaborate with to help meet these needs.

Relationship with Donors and Donor Privacy Policy

All Marian House, Inc. solicitation materials will be accurate and will correctly reflect the organization’s mission and use of solicited funds. Upon request, donors shall receive accurate and ethical advice about the value and tax implication of potential gifts. Marian House, Inc. shall take care to ensure proper stewardship of charitable contributions, including timely reports on the use and management of funds.

When funds are accepted with conditions, those conditions will be honored. If Marian House, Inc. cannot meet known conditions, staff members will ask the Executive Director and/or Board of Directors for guidance about returning the funds or requesting modifications in the donors’ conditions.

Requests made by donors to remain anonymous, have their names removed from mailing lists, or to restrict mail, telephone or other appeals will be honored. Information about donors that should be private will not be made public. Donors will not be subjected to excessive pressure when solicited for contributions. Marian House, Inc. will not sell, share or trade our donor list(s) or our donors’ personal information without their written consent.
